?Carrier Air Conditioning: A World Leader

The Carrier Corporation is one of the leaders in the industry of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. One of these innovative heating and cooling systems that uses Carrier air conditioning technology is the hybrid heat dual fuel system. These systems, both heating and Carrier air conditioning systems, are able to sense the temperature and heating or cooling needs and adjust the type of fuel they are using to help minimize fuel bills. The systems are set to run off the lowest cost energy source when heating and cooling requirements are low or moderate, but when the temperature becomes very cold or very hot the system automatically switches to the most efficient fuel source under these conditions. In essence the system only uses the most expensive fuel when there is a need for immediate heat or cold, switching back to the less expensive system for the average operation of the heating or cooling unit.

All Carrier air conditioning products come rated with a SEER number. The SEER rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) that is indicated with each unit allows homeowners to select the most energy efficient product for their home cooling needs. The higher the SEER number the more efficient the air conditioner is operating. The United States government regulatory agency requires a SEER number of 13 for all new products on the market. Carrier air conditioning units typically range from 13 all the way up to 21, which provides a significant reduction in the amount of energy needed to produce the same amount of cooling as a lower SEER rated air conditioner would. ?What Does Auto Code 1446 Emissions Control Systems In Cars Mean?

It is always a bit stressful when your vehicle isn’t performing right, and especially if this lack of performance is coupled with the auto code 1446 emissions control systems in cars being indicated through the use of a scanner. When the “check engine” light comes on in any car equipped with an on-board diagnostic system or OBD-ll, the owner or driver can take the vehicle to any repair shop, auto parts store or dealership and have the results scanned. This process then generates all the faults or malfunctions in the emissions system into a series of code. The auto code 1446 emissions control systems, cars and trucks, means that there is a problem with the vent control valve. This fault can occur in more than one set of the auto code 1446 emissions control systems. Cars or trucks can be reset and driven again, then checked to see if the fault occurs. Sometimes something as simple as a loose gas cap or a tear in the seal around the gas cap can lead to the fault reading auto code 1446 emissions control systems. Cars are easy to fix if this is the problem, simply reset the system and correctly tighten the gas cap or replace the damaged gas cap to correct the problem and prevent the faulty reading from occurring.

The vent control valve, or more specifically the EVAP canister vent control valve is located at the actual canister itself, which works to trap the vapors produced when gas is heated. The valve typically is in the open position to allow the vapors to vent from the tank and carborator into the charcoal of the canister, then be drawn back into the engine and burned with the fuel air mixture the next time the vehicle is started. When there is a problem that results in an auto code 1446 emissions control systems, car’s warning or fault reading, it is often necessary to replace the vent control valve to stop the fault from occurring. Not a costly repair the valve replacement typically corrects the reading and ensures that the vehicle will continue to operate at peak efficiency.

The only time that the solenoid valve (vent control valve) is closed is when the diagnostic test is running. In this case the valve closes to allow the system to pressurize to test for leaks. If the valve doesn’t seal or close for some reason during this process the diagnostic test cannot be completed. In some cases the valve may also stick closed, again impeding the operation of the evaporative emissions control system and resulting in a fault reading of auto code 1446, emissions control systems. Cars that have this fault or problem may have some lack of power or acceleration and may also have rougher idling under certain conditions.

Introduction

Water is one of the most essential natural resources, critical to survival of life on the earth. However, with the rapid industrial growth and establishment of advanced commercial settlements, water also constitutes as one of the highest amounts of waste products, water waste being an integral part of industrial activity.

Such a scenario, especially in the light of the crucial significance of water as a resource has led to the development of a large number of units concentrating especially on water waste management and all the related elements therein.

The Basics

In order to understand what it implies by the mechanics of water waste management, it is first important to analyze and learn the basic concept of water waste. Water waste is basically any form of water that has been adversely affected in quality by anthropogenic influence. The entire gamut of waster waste comprises of liquid waste discharged by domestic residences, commercial properties, industry or agriculture, including a wide range of potential contaminants and concentrations.

Meanwhile, sewage is a further category of water waste, which is basically contaminated with faeces or urine, but is more often used to mean any form of water waste. Cesspit leakage, sewage treatment plant discharge and septic tank discharge are the other two important sources of water waste, calling for effective water waste management techniques. The other common instances of the sources of waste water include washing water, rainfall collected on roofs, yards and hard-standings, surplus manufactured liquids from domestic sources, seawater ingress, storm drains and industrial waste.

?Information On Environmental Pollution: Does Greenpeace Deliver?

Solid information on environmental pollution can be difficult to find. For one, good information on environmental pollution is frequently too technical to be of any use to anyone outside of the academy, or anyone not planning on devoting their life to understanding all of the technical issues and chemical factors that make up the environment and our relation to it as human beings. For another, good information on environmental pollution is also frequently too local in its focus to be of any use to anyone not from that area. Sure, it may be interesting that desert caves in Libya are experiencing accelerated erosion as a result of magnesium deposits in nearby oases. But what does that have to do with us?

Yet it’s a given that we need good information on environmental pollution in order to live in the modern world. The war to protect the environment is everyone’s war; the environment itself is everyone’s battleground. Greenpeace, despite the name, is one of the organizations that uses military metaphors as a central piece of their public relations strategy. Greenpeace positions themselves as a group of “Rainbow Warriors”, dedicated to protecting the planet from its oppressors at any costs. And through their media and public outreach wings, Greenpeace positions itself as a solid source of information on environmental pollution.

But is this really the case? Is Greenpeace solely motivated by the need to deliver solid information on environmental pollution to the public at large? Or does it have another agenda–one which would lead it to distort even the facts it has sworn to protect?

Since its inception Greenpeace has been a political entity. The organization came to prominence by protesting nuclear weapons testing in Alaska–surely a political issue if there ever was one. Once the group became seaborne with the purchase of their famous flagship, the “Rainbow Warrior”, they quickly became infamous in Japanese whaling circles for their deliberate interference in whaling options–an act that led to their branding as “eco-terrorists” by the Japanese government.

None of this in and of itself would make Greenpeace’s information suspicious: after all, many organizations have done worse and still provided reliable information to the public. But in a recent article that appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Patrick Moore, one of the co-founders of Greenpeace spoke out against increasing politicization within the Greenpeace movement, taking as his evidence their 1986 campaign against chlorine use, and their ongoing campaign against phthalate compounds used in children’s toys. According to Moore, both chemicals are perfectly safe, and are being used by Greenpeace as “hot button” issues to alarm people–and to drum up political capital for Greenpeace.

There’s no immediate reason to trust Mr. Moore over his former partners, of course–which is the problem. In the politics of environmentalism, it’s difficult to know who to trust–and the arcane scientific journals may be the only source of rock-solid information on environmental pollution we have, even if it remains a bitter and hard-to-swallow drink.

?When Mold Attacks: Household Fungus Isn’t Just Ugly

There is far more to household mold than a bit of stain. Molds are also capable of triggering severe allergic reactions and may even contribute to the early onset of asthma symptoms. It can actually eat right through building materials and emit powerful mycotoxins that can cause respiratory, sensory and nervous system problems.

Of course, not all household molds are so dangerous. The majority are not. However, since most homes have been very tightly sealed up in an effort to save on heating and cooling costs, the amount of fresh air that circulates through the average home in North America has dwindled by a factor of 10 over the last three decades. Add to this the large amount of synthetic materials that unwittingly provide plenty of surface and food for these organisms, ans some very unusual molds have begun to appear, indeed.

?Air Conditioning: Ductless Systems For Houses

One option for upgrading or adding AC to an already built or constructed home is to use a type of system called ductless air conditioning. Ductless systems are usually more commonly known as mini-split systems are often used in homes that don’t currently have a forced air heat system that can piggyback the air conditioning. Ductless systems are so named because they don’t use the heating ducts that the traditional forced air furnace system provides. Since there are few homes now built that don’t have forced air heating, there is limited demand for this type of air conditioning. Ductless units are more commonly used in very old houses or in houses in warm climates that don’t have an existing furnace and ductwork system.

The air conditioning ductless system works similar to any other type of air conditioner with a unit on the inside that cools the air and a unit on the outside that vents the heat and moisture produced when the air cools. The two units are connected through the walls by tubes, one which carries the electricity to the outside unit and one that carries the water or condensate moisture away from the cooling unit to the outside.

Like a traditional forced air system the air conditioning ductless system works on a thermostat that is mounted in the room or area where the air conditioning unit is located. This system can be used to cool a large or small space, however they have no ability to transfer cool air to other parts of the house so they may not be practical in houses with many different rooms. Open area or open space houses can be effectively cooled by ductless systems provided the appropriately sized air conditioning unit is installed. Purchasing a unit with a high velocity blower or fan can also help with overall uniform temperatures within a larger room or space.

The mini-split or air conditioning ductless system does have several advantages over a window or wall mounted unit. They are a permanent fixture and are typically smaller in size than the wall mounts, plus they don’t need to be removed in the cold weather like the window mount units. The ductless system also doesn’t interfere with security like the window mount units do, which may be a big consideration for people in some areas. The ductless air conditioning system also functions more like a conventional air conditioner than a window or wall mount unit that is either on or off. The mini-split will respond to slight temperature changes and will cycle on and off to maintain the pre-set temperature rather than blasting cold or not running as a wall or window mount unit does.

The problem of air pollution is something that many people can not ignore. The quality of the air we breathe is important. Without clean air our lives are at risk. Numerous studies have shown the effects of air pollution and how damaging it can be.

There is no way that air pollution can be ignored. With all the air pollution prevention information available, though, the problem is being taken very seriously and efforts are being increased to help prevent air pollution.

Children are at the greatest risk since they tend to be outside more. Additionally, they are growing and developing and the introduction of pollution into their bodies can cause serious effects.

Some of the main health effects from air pollution are cardiopulmonary disease, pneumonia, allergies, asthma, low birth rates and various other respiratory aliments. Air pollution prevention information shows that long term exposure to polluted air will result in some type of health problem.

Learning to Prevent

The best use for air pollution prevention information is not to scare people into not polluting. Air pollution prevention information is best used to make a clear point about what will happen if pollution problems are not recognized.

Preventing air pollution is about doing your part. Every little effort to stop pollution is a step in the right direction. Individuals can buy hybrid vehicles, upgrade appliances and just be conscious about what impact their personal activities affect the rest of the world.

Noise pollution is usually not at the top of the list of pollution concerns. The effects of noise pollution are often not as recognizable as those form other forms of pollution. Testing noise pollution and coming up with scientific information can also be difficult.

Despite the challenge of noise pollution it does exist. Noise pollution & prevention is just as important as any other work concerning pollution. It is imperative to learn more about noise pollution & prevention so that you, too, can be informed about why it should be something you seek to eliminate.

Sources

There are three main sources of noise pollution & prevention. They include transportation, industrial and consumer sources.

Noisy vehicles, airplanes and trains account for a large percentage of noise pollution. Busy roadways are a great source of noise, as are train tracks and air ports. People living near these areas are directly affected by the noise pollution they create.

Industrial noise is another major form of noise pollution. Industrial noises range from banging to machines. These noises can last all day and night depending upon the operations of the business.

Consumer noise pollution is relatively small, but still an area of concern and a contributor to overall noise pollution. Load stereos, unmaintained, loud vehicles and general noise created by individuals are all examples of consumer noise pollution.

Effects

The effects of noise pollution are not as much seen as they are felt. Other types of pollution, like air pollution and water pollution are quite visible and that may be why they often get all the attention. However, anyone who has experienced issues with noise pollution can easily attest to the fact that the effects of noise pollution are not minor.

Noise pollution can cause behavioral issues like aggression, anxiety and depression. Chronic exposure to noise pollution can lead to high stress levels and possible complications with high blood pressure which can then lead to heart problems.

Noise pollution also causes hearing loss, sleeping problems and panic attacks. The need for education about noise pollution & prevention is not something people suffering from such ailments take lightly.

Water is a very valuable resource that needs to be protected for the future of the planet and all its inhabitants. Without water nothing is able to survive, but the water must be clean and usable. Water pollution has caused many problems in many different countries around the world. Every year many children have died as a result of drinking contaminated waters. There are many ways to prevent water pollution. It is up to everyone to try to stop the pollution before it starts by following these simple steps geared towards showing ways to prevent water pollution.

There are many things that ordinary individuals can do as ways to prevent water pollution. One important thing to do is to make sure that toxic products such as paints, oil, gasoline, polishes, cleaning products ad household products are properly disposed of. Never wash these types of substances down the drain or flush them down the toilet. These chemicals should never be washed down a driveway with a hose either to prevent them from getting into the water supply. Other important ways to prevent water pollution is to dispose of trash properly. Make sure that trash is not left in the water gutters or storm sewers around the streets. Never flush items such as feminine products or baby diapers down a toilet. This is not only dangerous to your own personal septic system but also interferes with the sewage treatment facility that handles the water wastes. Never throw litter or trash into lakes, streams, ponds, oceans or rivers and if you see any trash in the waters pick them up and dispose of them properly. Another one of the important ways to prevent water pollution is to use environmentally friendly household products such as shampoos, detergents, and toiletries. Also natural fertilizers have a much less harmful effect on the environment and do not contribute to water pollution the way that traditional commercial fertilizers do. Plant ground cover to reduce the amount of topsoil erosion which also plays a factor in water pollution.

One of the more obvious but often overlooked ways to prevent water pollution is to simply use less water. By reducing the amount of water used you will be reducing the amount of water that flows in to the sewage treatment systems. This will help the sewage treatment centers to run more effectively and help to prevent water shortages. There are many more ways to prevent water pollution than have been outlined here. By taking an active role in the health of the water that is so necessary to everyday life, water pollution can become a thing of the past.

?Recognizing the Need for Measures to Control Air Pollution

Recognizing the need for measures to control air pollution involves education and research, which informs us that the burning of biomass and fossil fuels is the most significant air pollutant source and major anthropogenic source of carbon dioxide there is on the planet. Another high number for pollution is the energy supply increase of 57% between the years 1973 and 1998—oil, natural gas, and coal—along with lesser forms such as nuclear, hydropower, and other sources. The energy supply varied from one area of the world over another, with biomass considered an important energy source in developing worlds. Unfortunately, it is also a number one source of indoor air pollution in these same countries—requiring tighter measures to control air pollution.

Yet quite recently, there has been a decline and stabilization of air pollutant emissions in industrialized countries, due to abatement policies that have been developed and put in place since the late 1900s. Cost effective pollution measures were put in place as a result of cooperation between environmental protective measures in addition to economic growth.

Acid rain, or acid precipitation, is a major environmental concern which requires stricter measures to control air pollution, measured recently in Europe and North America along with recent observations in China. Lost fish populations in Scandinavia were due to acidification from the 1950s to 1980s, but there has been a 70% reduction in some European areas of the anthropogenic SO2 emissions which were leading to acid rain. A large recovery of natural acid balance was developed because of this, pointing to excellent applications for measures to control air pollution. The United States has recently had a 40% reduction within the United States of the same yet Asia and the Pacific Region are increasing in their use of coal along with high sulphur fuels which is raising emission levels to a serious environmental threat.

Rapid urbanization is resulting in an increase in many major cities with the air quality guidelines of the World Health Organizational occasionally not met, as measures to control air pollution are demonstrating in areas such as Calcutta, Mexico City, Beijing, and Rio de Janeiro—high levels of SMP are being shown. Additionally, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) which transport over long distances through the air–found in polar areas and are known to decay rather slowly. Serious regional impacts upon the environment can occur, accumulating in animal fats which represent health risks. Measues to control air pollution POPs are to eliminate the production and usage of intentionally produced POPs, eliminating any unintentional need for them if possible.
